Lazy Fish Named Strand’s Best Gift Shop

WMBF TV recently named Pawleys’ own Lazy Fish gift shop among the entire Grand Strand’s best gift shops! The Myrtle Beach NBC affiliate recently featured an online contest to select the Best of the Strand. Rick and Debbie Seid, owners of The Fish, were thrilled to be named the No. 1 Gift Shop by popular vote. They asked Lowcountry to extend appreciation to everyone who voted for Lazy Fish. “We always knew we had great customers, and we will strive to continue to keep Lazy Fish a shopping experience unlike any other,” said Rick.

Best known for bright, unusual, one-of-a-kind inventory, the Fish carries all manner of goodies for the home. There’s furniture, Pine Cone Hill bedding, wall art including local watercolor prints by Penny Low, canvas giclees by Gerri Hyman, oyster shell creations and cool indoor signs made from recycled hurricane debris. Design services are always available. Both Coastal Living and Southern Living have featured stories and photographs about Rick and Debbie’s unique flair for decorating. Must-have personal items include Reisenthel carry bags from Germany (monogramming available) and colorful leather goods from Rowallan that make great gifts.

Pamper yourself with a pair of impossibly soft Pine Cone Hill PJs. Invitations, stationery and party goods from Lilly Pulitzer are now available at the Fish along with accessories, tabletop and gifts for every celebration and special occasions. It’s easy to circle the shop time and again and discover something new on every lap. Known for great service, unique items and complimentary gift wrap, you simply must visit this one-stop shopping destination. Come once and Lazy Fish will have you hooked.

Open Monday through Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM visit them at 11378 Ocean Highway in Pawleys.

Shady Ladies at Your Service
If – like many others – you’re staying home more these days, you are probably looking for ways to freshen up your favorite room, a piece of furniture or a few window treatments. The mother/daughter team of Sharon Davis and Sandy Sheely are just the “shady ladies” to help you bring your home alive again.

Sharon and Sandy of Shades and Draperies in Murrells Inlet have been adding their design sparkle to their customers’ coastal residences for nearly thirty years—and their passion for the work still shines as bright as ever.

When you walk into the Shades and Draperies design studio, you’ll find yourself surrounded yourself with color, texture and style. Let Sharon and Sandy guide you through a multitude of fabrics, finishes and approaches to designing one piece, one room or your entire home. They work hard to stay abreast of new and emerging trends in fabrics, window treatments and interior design so they can share a wealth of knowledge with their clients.

What’s popular now in the world of fabric and home design? The colors of fresh fruit form a vibrant palette of apple green, white, pink and orange. Neutrals are still a favorite for many, but now have the added benefit of texture, embroidery and subtle prints. Crisp, cool linens and linen blends also are showing up in new fabric collections. Customers can choose from an extensive selection of fabrics from Thibaut, S’Harris, Vervain, and Highland Court—to name just a few.

“As in other industries ‘green’ is very big in home design too,” explains Sandy. “We carry several lines of fabrics that are made from recycled materials and are recyclable as well. It’s nice to be able to offer products that have been manufactured with respect for the environment that also are beautiful and durable.”

As Georgetown County’s only Hunter Douglas Window Fashion Gallery, Shades and Draperies has access to the latest shutters, blinds and shades from this premier manufacturer before they’re available elsewhere.

“Hunter Douglas recently introduced a line of shades called Duette Architella that can save customers more than 30% off of their annual energy bills. The blend of technology and pleasing design is truly amazing,” adds Sharon.

Even after working together for three decades, these ladies are brimming with energy, talent, and enthusiasm and it shows in the beautiful one-of-a-kind work they create for their clients. The duo prides itself on designing all sizes of projects for a wide variety of people.

“We want our customers to feel special. Whatever we create—from window treatments, to bedding, to upholstery—it’s just for that person and their home. Everything we do is custom made and of the highest quality. No matter what size your home is, you deserve to have and enjoy the best we can offer,” explains Sandy.
